In Year 4 we have a very broad and balanced curriculum.  Children in Year 4 enjoy learning in a variety of ways, including the use of technology in all subjects.  We enjoy working together in pairs and can also work independently too.  Learning is planned to incorporate STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and maths) which encourages children to be curious and critical thinkers.  Our Year 4 class strive to be the best and work extremely hard in all curriculum areas. But, we also like to have fun and be creative!

We have had a blast in science this half term as we investigated states of matter.  Lots of experiments took place to help our learning.

In English, we spent a lot of time in the 4D room listening to stories and then reading our own work out infront of our peers.

To launch The Burrow, one of our highlights was meeting the wizard and the dragons as part of St. George's Day!

In Year 4, our topic was The Great Plague.  As this linked with the pandemic and viruses, we made our own posy bags.  People thought that a bag full of herbs would help keep the plague away.  We wore ours around school because they smelled nice!  We have also been doing LOTS of science in our class about sound.  We made our own string telephones and investigated the length of string, type of string and size of cup to see which was the most effective.   By the end of the term, it was nearly Christmas.  Our STEAM Ambassadors delivered equipment to classes to take part in cool STEAM tasks as part of our 'STEM INTO CHRISTMAS' week.
