Eldon retains its Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship Status Award

November 2023

The Governors, leadership team, staff and pupils are delighted that Eldon has retained its

Flagship Status for Inclusion. Sarah Linari was truly impressed with the school's inclusive approaches.

The in depth report highlights:

'The Headteacher exemplifies an unwavering commitment to the inclusion agenda, ensuring that all decisions revolve around what is best for the children. As a result, the pupils are a testament to the school's success, displaying confidence, friendliness, articulacy and immense pride in their school. Remarkably, their excellent behaviour and attitudes reflect the positive learning environment. During the assessment day, the observed high standards in pupils’ books and active engagement in the learning, spoke volumes about the quality of teaching and learning. Impressively, parents and carers hold a very positive view of the school, while the staff express feeling supported and effective as a cohesive team, creating a delightful working environment. The school's ambitious vision for all is evident in the opportunities provided to give children experiences they would not typically encounter, truly living up to their ethos.'

In 2020, Eldon was proud to have been shortlisted for the

National TES ‘Best Use of Technology’ Award 2020!

At Eldon we place a huge emphasis on the importance of technology in everyday life and the role it can play in developing specific computing skills whilst applying these across the curriculum to raise standards. The installation of technology within school can come with a high cost and as such we deliver effective systems, which are utilised in dynamic and creative ways. Computing has taken precedence over the last three years with the appointment of specialist computing teacher who plans, resources, team teaches and assesses along with class teachers. Last year, the appointment a STEAM Teacher opened up further opportunities for more spectacular, joined-up learning!

SHORTLISTED FOR THE TES SCHOOLS AWARDS 2020
Friday 25 September 2020

The most outstanding individuals and institutions that the education sector has to offer have been recognised in the shortlist for the Tes Schools Awards  2020.

It's been revealed that Eldon Primary School has been shortlisted for the 'Best use of Technology' award.

Tes editor Ann Mroz said: “It is always a highlight of the education calendar to see the best ideas and people lauded at the Tes Schools Awards. But this year, it felt more important than ever to run an event that showcased and celebrated the hard work that teachers and school staff do for children and their local community every single day. This has been one of the most difficult years in education, but – as ever – teachers continue to rise to the challenge.

"We had a record number of entries this year and the standard was very high, so all those shortlisted should be very proud: it's an extraordinary achievement to be on this shortlist."

Sadly we cannot hold the awards night in person this year as we had planned. For the very first time, award winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony on Friday 13 November 2020.
