Attendance
We pride ourselves with having great attendance at Eldon.
We enjoy coming to school and this shows in the fact that our whole school attendance is at least in line with National averages or better.
Following two disrupted years of attendance, due to the Coronavirus pandemic (in 2019/20 and 2021/22) our children and families have once again motivated themselves with high hopes and aspirations for a better than National attendance. Our target for the whole school remains at 97%.
Attendance is tracked and discussed weekly in our Friday whole school assembly. Trophies are given out to the best attendees in the EYFS/Infant classes and in the Junior Classes.
Most recently, in the academic year 2022/23, our school attendance was just above the national average at 94.3%; our PA rate of 18%, though disappointing, was still better than national norms.
Our whole school attendance for w/b 4th September 2023 was: 96.6%
Year 6 had the best attendance with 100%; Year 2 came a close second with 99.1%.

Previously, pre-Covid, in 2018/19 our whole school attendance was 96.5%. Our target remains at 97% and many of us exceed this target every year with the support of our parents and teachers!
50% of our pupils attended the 97% and above 'free' cinema trip in November 2021. Approximately 30% of our children were proud to have 100% attendance in the autumn term 2021.
At the end of March 2022, our whole school attendance after reaching 95.6% once again dipped to 95.4% due to an increase in Coronavirus cases and Chicken Pox. All families were urged to stay vigilant for signs of both.
Our cumulative attendance as a school was 95.4% on 30th January 2022. The year ended in July 2022 with a cumulative attendance of 94.7%.
Our children are determined to reach higher attendance standards and smash the 97% target we have set ourselves. Our large attendance scale display in the hall, is being observed by everyone ... children, staff, parents and Governors!
By 31st October 2022, our whole school attendance reached 95.6%.
By 16th December 2022, our whole school attendance was 95.4%.
In 2019/2020 and 2020/21 our attendance was disrupted due to the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic.
