Summer Term
We had an amazing day when we went to The Burrow, there was lots of excitement with Drago the Dragon and we even became authors, writing our very own class 'Tell Me a Dragon' book that is on display in class.
In history we were looking at changes and ordering pictures chronologically. We all had a great time trying to re-create our childhood and baby pictures!
In year 1 we LOVE reading! We have even started reading full stories to our class. Mrs. Dunn and Miss. Calvert don't get to be the story tellers anymore! It is fantastic to see this love of reading grow.
We worked really hard as a team to create a beautiful canvas of Brockholes to add to the whole school art project.
Spring Term
We loved getting creative to make our Easter bonnets. It was so much fun to be able to do some crafts while we caught up with our friends.
In English we loved the story of Red Riding Hood and we even used green screen to help us transform into the characters and retell the story!
In year 1 we love to have a boogie! We really enjoyed the dance-a-thon for Red Nose Day this year.
Autumn Term
In year 1 throughout Autumn 1 we did some fantastic learning all about animals. We were learning new facts and practicing writing about animals from dinosaurs to mice. We started to group the animals and use our observational skills. We also spent lots of time practicing our numbers, counting and measuring in different ways. As well as all of this, we have had lots of fun doing all things phonics! Learning has been fun and the whole class are settling into year 1 very nicely.
Year 1's Monster Mode Board
Each week the children practise their learning at home.
This home learning is celebrated on our Monster Mode Board!
Look at all of our fantastic home learning!

Reading. In our class we got into a really great habit of reading independently, with an adult and with our friends. We enjoyed it and included it into our daily routine.
4D room. We had a great morning in the amazing 4D room to inspire us to use exciting words in our writing. It was great to discuss our ideas together before writing in our work.
Science. We had a fun half term of science learning about different materials. It finished with an exciting challenge to work together to make a ‘shelter’ to try and keep Gerry the Giraffe dry.
Christmas excitement. We made the most of the Christmas build up and got so excited in year 1. One of our favourite activities was our huge phonics snowball fight. We had to throw the snowballs and then read as many words as we could with our friends. Lots of fun in our learning!
