Academy Conversion
Academy Conversion
The DfE Regional Director has approved the choice of Star Academies to become the sponsor of Eldon Primary School and the school will now begin the process of converting to become an academy within the Star network.
Star is a mixed Multi-Academy Trust, running a diverse group of schools across the country. There are currently 36 schools within Star working together in five regions across the country known as Star Partnerships.
Star is a high achieving Multi-Academy Trust. Star schools enjoy some of the best performance results in the DfE school league tables and, year upon year, Star pupils secure the lowest absence rates in England. All Star schools share a commitment to a child-centred vision and focus on educational excellence, character development and service to local communities. Star also supports many more schools and aspiring leaders through school improvement and leadership training via the Star Talent Academy. Eldon Primary School will benefit from a national network of support, resources and opportunities, as we continue to improve educational standards for our students. The trust is also a founder partner of the flagship National Institute of Teaching and has a reputation for inclusivity and civic leadership as well as high academic standards.

Stakeholder Engagement
As part of the proposal to become an academy, there is a seven-week engagement exercise in which parents, carers, staff, members of the Interim Executive Board (IEB) and other stakeholders can state their views on the proposal to convert to academy status.
The engagement period runs from Friday 29 November 2024 to Friday 17 January 2025.
We are encouraging parents, carers and other stakeholders to contribute to this process. We have prepared a stakeholder engagement document and accompanying questionnaire, which invites your opinion on the academy conversion and Star’s sponsorship. You can complete the questionnaire by downloading the stakeholder engagement document below and completing the questionnaire at the back of the document, which can be sent via email to projects@staracademies.org or by post to Star Academies, Projects Unit, Shadsworth Road, Blackburn BB1 2HT.
Over the coming weeks, we will provide regular information and updates to parents, carers and other stakeholders through this website, as well as updating the FAQ document below as the engagement exercise progresses.
Beyond this formal engagement period, we will continue to work closely with parents, carers and the local community and welcome your on-going feedback.
